420.Columbine

Well, it’s been 10 years since the Columbine school shootings. It’s hard to believe. Though I didn’t know anyone personally that was involved, I have friends who were effected by it.

I always feel a sense of meloncholy surrealness every year on this date, and usually spend the day quietly thinking to myself. A few moments of silence for each person killed followed by compairing my age to them. I was 14 back then. They were 14 or a few years older. Now I’m 24, out of school, working, living a life and I can’t help but wonder what kind of a life would they be living right now?

When I was in ballet and tap, our recitals were held at Columbine so I knew the inside of the school. It’s hard to imagine to think of a killing spree happening where my pink soft-toed shoes once danced.

I went to Golden, a school a town over. It was only a five minute drive on a good day doing just over the speed limit to Columbine. A straight shot down C-470.

My principal at Golden had a daughter that went to Columbine and we had to listen to his voice over the intercom, cracking as he tried to hold back his tears as he told us about the news.

My friends graduated college with the survivors of those who were only wounded. I met one of them at my friends graduation. She was paralyzed, in a motorized chair. She’s one of the strongest, determined people I have ever met.

So as the day goes on today, please take a moment and send a thought or two to the survivors of the Columbine massacre.

Xoxo.

So far so good…

Since the announcement of a Pqul Mitchell Cosmetology school going into my mall that I work at, and because of my dream of becoming a makeup and styling artist, I ordered a cosmetology text book. It arrived night before last, and I’ve finished the first chapter and completed the tasks in the study guide (well, all that don’t instruct me to get posterboard to do group assignments…saving those for a later date). I figured I’d study into it and see if it’s something I really want to get into, and so far it seems like I still do, so I’m pulling a Hermione and studying the heck out of every paragraph.

It’s great because my work, with being in dispatch, I actually have time to sit and go through it…and as long as I can continue entering info, watch cameras and answer calls, I’m allowed to =^^=. I love my job.

Security and school go hand in hand.

Ooooh I’m excited. Ok well, on to chapter two!

<3,
Xoxo!
